Important changes to your Garden Waste Collection Service

Lancaster City Council has imposed a charge for the collection of all garden waste.  From January 2017 the collection of garden waste from households in the Lancaster district will become a subscription-only service.  Your subscription will cover garden waste collections between January 2017 and 31st March 2018.  If you sign up now, you will receive a continuous service at the reduced rate of £30 per green bin.  After 31st March 2017, the service will cost £37.50 per bin.  Whenever you subscribe, the subscription will only last until end March 2018.  To register, go online to www.Lancaster.gov.uk/garden-waste.

Traditional Lancashire Christmas Fair

A traditional Lancashire Christmas Fair will be held in Bolton-le-Sands Community Centre on Saturday 26th November from 1-4pm.  Come along and visit Santa in his grotto and take a peek at the traditional stalls selling handmade gifts, cards and paper as well as Lancashire Delicacies.  There will be games for everyone.  You can listen to George Formby busking, the squeeze box and ukulele band.  Have a go at the Christmas Turkey Draw and listen to the choir singing.  Entrance £1 children free.

Heritage Lottery Fund

Holy Trinity Church is delighted to announce that its bid for lottery funding has been successful and is to receive £214,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund to continue to replace parts of the church roof, make modifications to the entrance porch to improve disabled access, improve the display of the Anglo Saxon stones and to install display facilities. 

Remembrance Day Service

The Parade of uniformed organisations will depart from Cross Hill Court at 10.45am to join with residents at the War Memorial to remember those who have fallen in the two world wars.  The service will commence at 10.55am and will be led by the Revd Nancy Goodrich.

Songs for Christmas

Get into the Spirit of Christmas with the Ladies of Note.  They are presenting Songs for Christmas
plus humorous monologues, solos and duets in Bolton-le-Sands United Reformed Church on Wednesday 14th December at 7.30pm.  Tickets are £5 to include refreshments and are available by telephoning 01524 824247 or pay on the door.  All proceeds to  Bolton le Sands Village Gala Funds.

Tour of Morecambe Lifeboat Station

A rare opportunity to get up close and personal with Morecambe’s  Inshore lifeboat. Tour the station and receive a talk from RNLI volunteer Colin Midwinter on the important work of the crew on Wednesday 16th November from 10.00-11.30am.
FREE but booking essential.  Donations to  the RNLI welcome at the event.
